Are couples counselling services covered by insurance?

Services at the Couples Corner Counselling are provided by either Registered Social Workers (RSWs) or Licensed Counselling Therapists (LCTs) and are often covered by most insurance companies. Insurance companies may cover all or some of the associated fees of service. We recommend that clients call their insurance company to clarify their coverage.

All fees acquired from a therapy session with a Licensed Counselling Therapist or Registered Social Worker are a medical expense that can be filed as a deduction from your taxable income.

If you have any questions concerning fees or insurance, please contact us for more information.

How do therapy sessions work?

Sessions with our therapists are 50-minute in length and sessions are offered via secure online video counselling. Video counselling has many benefits including convenience, flexibility, and having access to specialized couples therapists who may not otherwise be available in a given area. During the first session, the therapist will get to know you and your partner, the reasons bringing you to counselling, and what goals you are hoping to accomplish.

Where are your services provided?

We are a Maritime based counselling clinic and pleased to offer counselling services to folks living in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

The answer is…it depends! For some folks, they feel they’ve gotten what they need after a couple of sessions, whereas other couples might prefer or require support over a longer period of time. Your therapist can discuss this with you over the course of therapy. There is no commitment to attend a set number of sessions and there is no limit on the number of sessions one can attend.
